I always enjoyed giving shoulder rubs. Then one time a friend said to
me, "Why don't you do this for a living?" I was stunned. I couldn't come
up with a single reason not to go to massage school.
Once I started school, I really felt like I was "home." I knew it was
what I was meant to do.

The Brenneke School of Massage Therapy and the Brian Utting School of
Massage – the Cortiva Institute's schools in Seattle – are
devoted to raising the standards of massage therapy education. Through
a comprehensive approach to massage therapy training – incorporating
both science and spirit – we prepare our students for successful
practices in many different professional fields.
Our curriculum is grounded in the belief that scientific foundations and
inspirational, real-life experiences create passionate massage therapy
professionals. Students benefit from a combination of hands-on classroom
instruction, community outreach and clinic work. After you graduate, we
continue to support you through continuing education, lectures and workshops.
Our Massage Therapy Certification Program takes a holistic, real-life
approach to massage. You'll be challenged to create your own career path,
whether that means working in a hospital, clinic, spa, health club, or
your own private practice. Out training covers three top areas of study:
Anatomy, Physiology and Pathology
Coursework provides a solid foundation in understanding the structure,
function and health of the human body. You'll learn proper medical terminology
that is reinforced in hands-on classroom experiences.
Massage Therapy and Practice
Master fundamental techniques in a classroom setting and practice them
in a supervised and supportive environment. We provide training in body
mechanics and self-care so that you enjoy a long and healthy career. In
addition to your Theory and Practice courses, training in the Student
Clinic and in our Community Outreach program will further prepare you
to interact with clients.
Professional Development
This coursework completes your education with business basics necessary
to creating a career in massage therapy. Working with your instructors,
you will define goals and target the right markets for a successful practice.
With exercises in writing a resume, creating a business plan, marketing,
advertising and self-management, you'll walk away with the tools necessary
to establish your own practice or apply for jobs upon graduation.
