With 15 years experience, Michelle brings to the massage table an eclectic style of bodywork. The emphasis of her work centers on treatment and rehabilitative techniques, including deep tissue, Neuromuscular therapy, Myofascial Release, and Active Isolated Stretching. Michelle also specializes in pregnancy massage as well as providing relaxing, stress-reducing Swedish massage.
Michelle received her Massage Practitioner license in 1991. Prior to that she studied pre-physical therapy and biology at Texas Women’s University. She has taken hundreds of hours of continuing education in treatment modalities, pain management, and muscular and nerve disorders. She is in the process of completing her Orthopedic Massage Certification. Michelle has spent four years working at the Women’s Clinic at Overlake Hospital in Bellevue, providing clinical and pregnancy massage. She worked in the Childbirth center, providing massage to women in antepartum care.
Michelle is an active member of the AMTA (American Massage Therapy Association) and its Washington state affiliate. She is very active in her profession, promoting research and community service of massage therapy. She is currently an on-site evaluator/team leader for COMTA (Commissions of Massage Therapy Accreditation). She has served on the Board of Massage at the Department of Health in Olympia, where she helped to write rules, policies and education curriculum guidelines for massage therapy institutions within Washington. She has volunteered in a number of AMTA committees and served on various insurance panels. Currently, she is a Deep Tissue, Sports Massage and Clinical Treatments instructor at Port Townsend School of Massage.
