"No one in the healing arts is an island. We all bring to our practices skills, opinions and training from normally a very wide variety of sources. From our professional certifcation training, continuing eductation, life experience as well as client and everyday interactions. This makes it sometimes interesting to find the practitioner that is the right fit for you.
I firmly believe though that pain does NOT equal gain. So while doing deep work many clients say that I am very subtle as they do not experience the typical pain response associated with deep tissue therapies. But the depth is there - just at a slower speed that allows the body to relax so the work causes little if any discomfort.
It would be nice if there was a magic solution to every ache -- sometimes it's work not that we can remove the ache, but that we can reduce the stress the body is under while dealing with a chronic condition. Releasing secondary tension and pain helps the brain to stop feeling overloaded and allows us to again feel that 'I can manage this' sensation. This is one of the key points when dealing with pain induced depression that I've found can be a vital component in your rounded treatment of any long term condition.
Each of us can assist in our own healing by remembering to listen to that 'Little Voice' inside. It tells us when and where we're out of balance IF we remember to listen. It is my goal to help you learn to listen and be aware. It is Not mumbo jumbo - just good targeted work where the body needs it - physical, energy, emotional.
