Neuromuscular Therapy is an advanced system of soft tissue manipulation,
which specializes in working to alleviate Myofascial pain and pain syndromes.
This course is based on the groundbreaking work of Dr. Janet Travell.
The effectiveness of the technique is based on two conditions: 1) the
therapist's assessment and treatment of muscle, tendon, and periosteal

to the chronicity.
During the 100 hour Neuromuscular Therapy program, origins, insertions
and actions of muscles to be treated will be revisited. Stressors, perpetuating
factors and trigger point pain referral patterns will be emphasized. Demonstrations
will be shown and application of NMT techniques will be performed.

Professional Ethics for Bodyworkers
Register Now March 8, 2009 / 9:00am - 4:00pm
/ Wall / 6 hours / NCTMB approved / $120
What are boundaries? Rules, regulations, and commandments? What happens
beyond the boundaries? Is there a personal and professional context for
boundaries?
In this six hour lecture/discussion/experiential class, we will explore
Carl Jung's concept of the "shadow" and how it relates to our personal
values as professional bodyworkers. We will examine boundary conscious
behavior in relation to the shadowy elements within the therapeutic relationship
with our clients.
This program will shed light on unconscious shadow issues such as the
use of power, intimacy, scope of practice dilemmas, and bodywork belief
systems. All participants will receive a workbook and copies of the National
Certification Board for Therapeutic Massage and Bodywork Standards of
Practice and Code of Ethics. This workshop was previously presented to
more than 300 participants at a recent AMTA New England conference. Participants
will receive 6 hours of NCBTMB approved continuing education in ethics.
