The main campus is located in Piscataway, a community that was founded
in 1666 and is the fifth oldest municipality in New Jersey. The community
is ethnically diverse, with a population of over 50,000 and has easy access
to major highways, including Interstate 287, the Garden State Parkway
and the New Jersey Turnpike. Piscataway is 35 miles from New York City,
and within 250 miles of one-quarter of the nation's total population.
Piscataway has advanced educational and research facilities due to the
presence of Rutgers University and Robert Wood Johnson Medical School.
Rutgers Stadium is in Piscataway.
Since the opening in 1960 of Interstate Highway 287 the township has proven
a highly desirable location for suburban development and many Fortune
500 corporations including Telcordia Technologies, Colgate Palmolive Technology
Center, MCI World Com International, and Johnson & Johnson Health Systems
are located in the township. Despite the development Piscataway has managed
to maintain its friendly welcoming atmosphere, making it a wonderful place
to live, work, and play.
