News And Press Releases

On Saturday, December 8, 2007, Cortiva Institute - Scottsdale students provided chair massages for the volunteers of Room for Joy , a non-profit organization that is committed to helping chronically ill children by remodeling their bedrooms into dream bedrooms. The Room for Joy project was for Jack Schrooten, a 9 year old boy who was born with congenital muscular dystrophy. Wallis Stemm, the Director of Development of Room for Joy, wrote:

"On behalf of our Founder, Tory Smock, I would like to extend our sincere thanks to the student volunteers for taking time to reduce some of the stress involved in pulling all of this together. The room volunteers were quite thankful for the massages, and are looking forward to taking advantage of your services in the future."

Pam Eckle, one of the Room for Joy volunteers, was especially grateful because this was her first massage experience ever. Pam had this to say about her massage experience with one of our Cortiva students:

"This was the first massage I've ever received. I was afraid I wouldn't be able to loosen up, but immediately felt warm and relaxed and that I could easily fall asleep. It felt great to have my tight muscles be made pain free. I will definitely get a massage again!"

Cortiva Institute - Scottsdale is dedicated to being a positive, uplifting force in our local community by using the healing and relaxing benefits of massage therapy to assist organizations such as Room for Joy. We are proud to have been a part of the remodel of Jack Schrooten's bedroom and look forward to a long-lasting relationship with Room for Joy.
