Margaret Avery Moon
Co-Founder, Desert Institute of the Healing Arts
Margaret has been Certified in Massage Therapy since 1979, Nationally
Certified in Therapeutic Massage Therapy and Bodywork since 1992, Certified
American Massage Therapy Association (AMTA) - Sports Massage Therapy since
1985, as well as holding her BA from Sonoma State University. She has
been instrumental in leading the profession by volunteering for national
projects.
Some of the positions she has held are: Chair of the AMTA-Council of Schools
(1991-1993), National Certification Board for Therapeutic Massage and
Bodywork, founding member and Chair for her final term (1992-1996), Arizona
AMTA, Second Vice President (1996-2000). Margaret has taught workshops
on massage therapy for specific conditions nationwide.
She was awarded the National AMTA President's Award in 1996, the AMTA-AZ
President's Award in 1995, and has received many meritorious awards for
her service. Additionally, she was awarded Tucson's Business Woman of
the Year in 1998.
Margaret strives to bring new trends to the curriculum, ensuring that
the curriculum meets the needs of employers and students. The outstanding
reputation and success of the Desert Institute of the Healing Arts is
a testament to the drive and creativity of its founder.
