Seattle is a great area to live and to work in. I relocated to Seattle when my job as an advertising executive transferred me. When I moved to Seattle seven years ago I was impressed by the atmosphere and by the great people that live here. There was a great neighborhood feel to the city and there were also many attractions and things to do. I am a very active person so I appreciated everything that Seattle had to offer and I grew quite complacent here.
Unfortunately, the company that I worked for ended up having some severe financial problems and my job had to be eliminated. I was not sure what I was going to do. I had fallen in love with the town, but I could not afford to continue to live there if I did not have regular, gainful employment. I looked around and found that there were no senior advertising positions available. I got a job waitressing in a local restaurant so that I could pay my mortgage while I bought some time.
There was another waitress at the restaurant that was going to a popular massage school Seattle had. She informed me that she would be able to get her massage therapy certificate in a year and be able to start a professional career in massage therapy.
The next time that we worked together she brought me a brochure from the well-known massage school Seattle contained. I looked through the brochure and was very impressed by all of the information, although I was intimidated by the prospect of going back to school. I asked her about the school and what it was like and she invited me to come along to her classes with her one day.
I agreed, and it was one of the best choices I have ever made. The massage school Seattle offered was state of the art. The campus was impressive and the students were very welcoming. I was also pleased to see that there were a number of students that were my own age, obviously faced with the same career problems that I had experienced. This was very reassuring to me.
I sat in on a class that was outlining all of the business options that massage therapists could have. This class was the deciding factor for me. I could stay in Seattle, start a great new career, and enjoy the type of business freedom that I had always hoped for.
